MOURNERS gathered to say goodbye at the funeral of a brave mum who lost her battle with cancer.
More than 150 people attended the Bolton Road Methodist Church in Bolton Road, Bury, this morning to pay their final respects to Ashlee Disley, who died aged 32 on June 5.
Ashlee, formerly of Hereford Crescent, Little Lever, and more recently of Saltram Close, Radcliffe, captured the hearts of Bolton News readers two years ago when she spoke of having terminal breast cancer and asked for help planning her dream wedding to childhood sweetheart Neil.
Five hundred people responded to the plea and helped put on her perfect day as she was married near Blackburn in May 2013.
Ashlee planned her own funeral and asked loved ones to come in colourful clothing.
Her mother Bren Meecham said: “Ashlee’s death is such a tragedy for us all. It is a reminder to women everywhere of the importance of being aware of breast cancer.”
