RADCLIFFE residents are being urged to share their ideas and aspirations for how to improve life in the town at a community consultation this week.

The ROC Centre, in Westminster Avenue, is hosting the discussion on Wednesday night, bringing together key contributors from the community to put forward their ideas for new ways in which to use the centre.

Local councillors, as well as representatives from the police, churches, and other groups will be in attendance, with ideas already floated including a new cinema club.

Steve Ranftler, ROC Project Manager, said: “These events are about having discussions about what the community of Radcliffe needs and the best ways we can use the ROC Centre to help.

“We’re going to be bringing key players in the community together to explore whatever ideas they and members of the public might have.

“We want as many people as possible to come down and lend their support, and I know there are always people who are passionate about making Radcliffe a better place.”

ROC took over the youth community centre in 2011 and recently appointed a new management group.

Debra Green, founding director of ROC, said: "I am personally very excited about the ROC Conversation, because Radcliffe is a community which is very close to our hearts here at ROC.

“It has been a privilege to serve the community of Radcliffe through the ROC Centre over the years. We are equally excited about the next chapter as we look forward to maximising the centre beyond the ROC Conversation, to the benefit of all."

Councillor Jamie Walker added: “I have been an active volunteer in the local area since a very young age and started to volunteer at the Y-Zone Youth Centre (now Radcliffe ROC Centre) when I was 12 Years Old.

“I am very thankful to have been invited to join the ROC Enabling Group. It is now more than ever that we need to work together as community leaders to help our town prosper.”

The ROC Conversation starts at 7pm on Wednesday, July 8.
