A DRIVER fled the scene after ploughing his car into a tree outside a Radcliffe school this lunchtime.
Police were called to the incident in Coronation Road, opposite Radcliffe Primary School, at 12.28pm after the blue Fiat Punto crashed into the tree.
Nobody was injured in the incident, and witnesses reported seeing the driver flee in the direction of Bolton Road Park.
Road safety campaigner Allan Ramsay, who saw the aftermath of the crash while passing on his bike, said: "When I arrived there was a crowd of people around so it had obviously just happened.
"They must have been driving at some speed to cause that kind of damage. Everybody knows that we have a big problem with speeding in Radcliffe and something needs to be done about it, otherwise we will keep seeing accidents like this."
