A NURSERY group raised £500 for Grace's Place with a family fun day in Close Park.

Kids adVentures, which is based in Sandford Street, Radcliffe, held an afternoon of games and activities on Saturday afternoon in aid of the hospice, which is being adapted on the site of the former Bury Hospice on Dumers Lane.

Families were able to enjoy a drumming workshop, animal mask making, dancing, a bouncy castle, face painting, smoothie making, and an obstacle course.

Several local businesses also got involved by donating raffle prizes ranging from days out and food hampers to trial gym memberships and haircuts.

The nursery, which also has a site in Prestwich, was set up by Social adVentures, a not for profit organisation dedicated to providing health and wellbeing services in the community.

Scott Darraugh, Chief Executive of Kids adVentures, said: "We had a fantastic fun day on Saturday and lots of families got to experience the kinds of activities that we put on at our nurseries from smoothie making right through to drumming workshops and animal mask making.

"I am delighted that in the course of having a great day out the local community raised £500 for Grace’s Place Hospice."

Services offered by Social adVentures include free childcare to help parents get back into work and first aid courses for parents.
