GREEN-fingered pupils made a fresh start to the new school year by harvesting some fantastic fruit and vegetables they left to grow over the summer.
Children at Millwood Primary School, in School Street, Radcliffe, planted the healthy treats – including pumpkins, squashes, and apples – in the Spring and were delighted to find them fully grown when they returned last week.
Headteacher Helen Chadwick said: "Everyone was amazed when we came back and saw how big everything was, especially the pumpkins and squashes, which we will use to make soup. We've had a bumper crop of apples from the orchard too, and all of our sunflowers have grown really tall.
"It has been a great first few days of term. We have had some wonderful new children starting, and we've been able to enjoy the last bits of sunshine of the summer."
