A WOMAN had a knife held to her throat when a man jumped into her car.

The 19-year-old victim was sat in her car, a silver Ford Fiesta, outside Bolton Railway Station, Trinity Street, when a man jumped into the passenger seat.

It happened at 6.40pm on Saturday, September 5. Police released CCTV and information about the incident today, September 11.

The offender told her the victim to drive and demanded she give him her money and phone.

The victim was made to drive for about 20 minutes, towards Bury, whilst the man threatened her with a knife and stole items from her handbag and removed the jewellery she was wearing.

The woman stopped in a housing estate near to Bury Road and Radcliffe Moor Road, where the man got out and the victim was able to go and ask for help.

He is described as white, between 22 and 25-years-old, 5ft 7in and was wearing dark coloured trousers, a light-coloured jacket with the hood up and white surgical gloves.

Police have launched an investigation to trace the offender.

Detective Constable Suzanne Barrett of Bolton division said: “This is a horrific incident which has left a young woman traumatised. I cannot imagine the terror she must have felt when the man jumped in to her car held a knife to her throat.

“I understand that this will alarm people in the community and I want to assure people that we are doing all we can to catch the man that did this.

“I would urge you to look at the CCTV images and although they are not very clear, I’m hoping that they may jog someone’s memory who was around the train station at that time.”
