A DEVASTATED family whose dog went missing more than seven months ago were joined by their legions of supporters for a nationwide awareness campaign last weekend.

Since beloved pet Izzy, a five and a half-year-old sandy-coloured cockerpoo, disappeared from the Barratt estate in Outwood Road, Radcliffe, in February, thousands of people have pledged their support to bring her home.

Owners Ian and Dawn Purvis, and their daughters Lauren and Eve, have seen more than 5,000 people like a Facebook page dedicated to finding Izzy, and on Saturday, city centres across the UK were invaded by dog owners spreading the word.

Manchester, Leicester, Coventry, Glasgow, were amongst those targeted by 'Izzy's Angels' supporters carrying posters and leaflets to raise awareness of the search.

Mr Purvis said: "There were 10 of us in Manchester, about 30 in Leicester, and a few more events spread out across the country.

"We are so grateful to all of the people who have come out to help us over the last seven months.

"The people who have visited the Facebook page have been so nice and keen to get involved with helping us, which is wonderful, but it takes that extra bit of effort to actually get out in person, so it's incredible to see the support we have had on all fronts."

Izzy disappeared after she ran out of the front door of their new home after builders had let themselves into the property, setting off the alarm.

He added: "We are still very active in getting out looking for Izzy, and every little bit of support we get helps us on our way and motivates us to keep going.

"It's wonderful to know that there are so many people out there who are genuinely concerned for us as a family and want to give up their time to help.

"We are very, very grateful for that and we couldn't have kept the search going without that support.

"It seems now like everybody in Radcliffe knows about Izzy and is aware of how long she has been missing. All we can do is keep looking and keep hoping."

The family is offering a substantial reward for Izzy's return. For more information visit facebook.com/HelpfindIzzyWizz
