A RADCLIFFE-based charity has been given a little 'Xtra' help thanks to a donation of more than £1,000 from the Halifax Bank.

Branches across North Manchester held book sales during July and raised a total of £1,123 for young person's drug and alcohol charity Early Break.

Rhyse Cathcart, the charity's training and marketing development worker, said: "Every penny that they have raised will make a huge difference to the lives of young people in the local area that are affected by substance misuse issues.

"Many of the young people we work with have a number of related issues such as poverty, neglect, domestic violence and family issues to name a few. Without the continued help from kind supporters such as the Halifax Bank, we would be unable to continue the service we provide, so our thanks are unquestionable."

Tracy Clare, Halifax Community Ambassador for North Manchester, added: "It has been a great pleasure to support the work that Early Break do, confident that the monies raised will be ploughed back into the community to help vulnerable young people and their families."
