EMERGENCY services helped talk a man down from a railway bridge in Radcliffe this afternoon, after he threatened to jump into the River Irwell.
The man had threatened to jump off the ‘Monkey Bridge’ near Warth Fold Road, where firefighters were called to at around 3.15pm.
Crews from Whitefield and Bury fire stations attended alongside the ambulance service, who assessed the man at the scene after he came down.
Whitefield fire station watch manager Tim Eaton said: “We hadn’t been there long when he came down. The man’s mother was also at the scene and helped talk him down.”
