A RADCLIFFE-based provider of office technology, stationery and furniture is celebrating 35 years in business.

The anniversary coincides with the news that Lex Business Equipment has increased its turnover by £205,300, seen a 13 per cent increase in pre-tax profits in the year to the end of August 2015, and aims to achieve a turnover in excess of £2 million in their next financial year end.

The family firm, located in Smyrna Street, began by supplying typewriters to businesses and colleges in the early 1980s. Today, Lex is a leading North West single-source supplier of more than 22,000 office supplies products, furniture, IT hardware and printing devices.The company boasts more than 500 clients throughout the UK.

Managing director Wayne Elphick said: “The story to our success is our enthusiasm to embrace new workplace technologies, offer nothing less than an exceptional level service to our loyal customers and above all to be fair and honest."

The firm has promoted Sam Elphick to director of sales. Sam, previously sales manager, has been with the company for over eight years during which time he has expanded Lex's product and service offering.

He said: “I’m delighted and honoured to be accepted onto the board of directors and am excited about my new role, along with the responsibilities and demands it brings."

As a result of their continued growth, Lex aim to continue their apprenticeship scheme and recruit for an administrative apprentice in the new year, as well as a specialist photocopier service engineer to join the firms expanding workforce.
