VOLUNTEERS are being urged to help clean up flood damage in the borough's parks.
Radcliffe's Close Park and Whitefield's Springwater Park were among the many areas across the borough affected by the Boxing Day floods.
A Mersey Basin Rivers Trust spokesman said: "Many of our riverside public parks such as Springwater Park, Burrs Country Park and Close Park are now covered in debris from the river water and our local authorities are stretched helping those affected by flooding.
"We would like to help by hosting community events across the region to help clean up our parks."
Anyone who can help should meet in Whitefield's Springwater Park's car park at 10am on Sunday wearing boots or wellies, old clothes and protective gloves.
Next Sunday, a clean-up will be taking place at Close Park, Radcliffe.
Volunteers are asked not to bring children because of the conditions and risk of sewage contamination.
To volunteer, let organisers know by emailing volunteer@merseybasin.org
Companies that would like to sponsor the event should conemail office@merseybasin.org
