WATER has been restored to homes in the BL4 and M26 postcodes that experienced problems this afternoon.
United Utilities reported that customers in the area, which covers Farnworth, Kearsley, Stoneclough and Radcliffe, were left with low pressure or no water at all.
Engineers had restored the supply by 6.30pm but warned it may take up to two hours for water pressure to return to normal levels.
A spokesman said: "Our team of engineers have finished repairing the problem and the water should be starting to flow normally again. However it may take up to two hours for the water pressure to return to normal levels. We’re sorry if this has affected you and thank you for your patience.
"Because there’s been some disturbance to the pipes in your area you may notice the water is a little cloudy or discoloured, please check our Discoloured Water page for more information."
