ANGRY residents have hit out at vandals who sprayed graffiti at a Radcliffe beauty spot.

The offenders targeted trees, benches, and signs in Redbank Lodges in a spate of vandalism on Tuesday night, as well as nearby homes.

One garage in Melrose Gardens had an obscene image painted on it.

Tina Harrison, from Abbey Close Tenants and Residents Association, said: "One of our member's garages was also targeted, so we don't know if it was the same people going around or just another random act of vandalism.

"It just appeared overnight on Tuesday. It is quite upsetting when you see something like this.

"They targeted the trees and other things in the lodges, and that will all have to be cleaned up.

"It is such a shame that people would come and ruin a Radcliffe beauty spot in this way, especially with it being the summer, because you get a lot of kids using it and people having picnics and so on."

A spokesman for GMP Radcliffe tweeted: "You do your very best to make the area look nice and some idiots have to spoil it."
