A FUNDRAISING family hopes to surpass their £40,000 target in memory of a teenage girl who died after suffering an epileptic fit.

Sam Ahearn died in 2009 after falling downstairs while having a seizure at her home in Dumers Lane, Radcliffe, and since then her family have raised more than £36,000 for epilepsy charity Sudep Action.

The appeal had an initial target of £500 but has continued to gain an incredible amount of support. Sam’s mum Lynn McGoff is optimistic that they will soon pass their latest milestone figure.

There will be a butterfly ball at the Village Hotel, Ashton, on October 7. Tickets are on sale. They include a red-carpet entrance with champagne, a three-course meal, an auction, entertainment from a DJ and a photo booth. For tickets or to sponsor a table, call Lynn or Billy McGoff on 07568 468704 or 07783 213856.
