A MOTHER and her two-year-old son were treated for smoke inhalation after a kitchen fire.
Firefighters were called to the scene in Wolsey Street, Radcliffe, at around 7.15pm on Tuesday after the woman accidentally set fire to some clothing.
She had left a pile of laundry on top of her cooker and accidentally turned the hob on instead of the oven.
Both the mother and son were given oxygen by firefighters and then seen by paramedics.
Mark Outhwaite, crew manager at Whitefield fire station, said: "She had managed to put the fire out herself by the time we arrived.
We gave oxygen to the mother and her son and waited for the ambulance to arrive.
"The house had no smoke alarms so we fitted one on each floor of the property."
