A THUG who spat at and bit supermarket security guards before damaging two customers’ cars has been jailed.

Mohammed Adil Kulasi, 34, of Moss Lane, Whitefield, went to the Radcliffe branch of Asda, off Pilkington Way, at 2pm on May 25 and was asked to leave by security staff, Bury magistrates heard.

According to police, the guards, Shaahid Mukadam and Mark Ramsbottom, claimed that Kulasi had been suspected of stealing from the store in the past and so they did not want him in.

However, Kulasi refused to leave and spat at one guard before biting the other.

As he was ushered outside the shop, Kulasi grabbed two supermarket trolleys and smashed then into two parked cars.

They were a Lexus belonging to Jeremy Aronson and a Skoda Octavia belonging to Lorraine Warwick, and the damage cost a total of £400 to repair.

The court also heard that at 10.20am on August 10, Kulasi went to the Dunelm curtain and bedding shop in Green Street, Radcliffe. He stole a £199 Shark vacuum cleaner and ran out through the fire door.

Security guard Stephen Gibbons chased Kulasi and caught up with him in Blackburn Street.

As Mr Gibbons detained Kulasi, the thief twice bit him on the arm.

Kulasi appeared before Bury magistrates and admitted three counts of assault and two counts of criminal damage.

Magistrates jailed Kulasi for 18 weeks and said the offences were so serious as three of the victims were assaulted while working.

They added that Kulasi committed the offences while under the influence of drugs and said he had a history of committing similar offences and had failed to comply with court orders previously.

He must also pay £40 each in compensation to the three men he assaulted.
