PHYSIOTHERAPISTS will be offering free fitness MOTs for over-60s at Radcliffe Library next month.

As part of UK Older People's Day, on October 6, physios from Fairfield General Hospital will be at the library between 10am and 1pm to provide assessments and advice on how to keep active with age.

The event is being run in partnership with Healthy Lifestyle services, and Bury council’s exercise initiative schemes - BEATS and I Will If You Will.

Lorraine Ogbonmwan, senior physiotherapist at The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, said: "It’s never too late for anyone to increase muscle strength, maintain bone density and improve balance.

"Physical activity helps prevent aches and pains, increase energy levels and helps reduce the risk of falling later on in life. It also helps cut the risk of or better management of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, mental illness and some cancers."
