RESIDENTS and staff at a Radcliffe care home were frozen in time as they joined in the latest craze sweeping the internet.

The Mannequin Challenge, which has become a viral sensation in recent weeks, has now made its way to Rose Court Care Home, in Water Street.

A video recorded at the home on Wednesday shows residents frozen like mannequins as they go about their day, playing chess, enjoying a cuppa, and reading the newspaper.

The idea to record the video came from carer, Ashley Bennet, who said: “I thought it was a good idea and a great challenge for everyone to stay still. It brought everyone together and the residents thoroughly enjoyed watching the video clip afterwards.”

The clip, which has been posted on social media, involves Margret Guinn, Peter Preston, Piroska Barna, Diane Rothery, Tasha Redford, Robert Dick, Ashley Bennet, and Dennis Searls.

It has proved so popular that the home is now planning to organise another video involving more residents.

Mr Dick, a resident at the home who can be seen playing chess in the video, said: “Everyone did so well, it’s a marvellous thing we did and next time we’ll have even more residents taking part.”

Karen Davies, the home's manager, said: “Completing the Mannequin Challenge was challenging for our residents, some of who are living with dementia. It was an exciting and fun challenge and everyone worked together really well to complete it successfully.

"A real sense of achievement was felt and we’re all very proud of that."
