A CHILDREN’S charity has thanked two town centre pubs that have boosted their Christmas celebrations.

On Friday, the Bridge Tavern held a special Christmas jumper day in aid of the Trewan Sands Children’s Trust.

More than £100 was raised for the Heywood-based charity, which provides holidays for terminally ill or disabled children. A spokesman said: “A massive thank you to Paul Charnock, Jo, Rhea Charnock, Chelsea and all the staff and regulars for raising an amazing £104.15, we really appreciate it.” The charity also hosted a Christmas party for the elderly at the The Lock Keeper pub. Visitors were given special festive hampers and t-shirts donated by local residents and businesses, and enjoyed entertainment from Tommy Price.
