FIREFIGHTERS had to cut off the roof of a car to rescue a driver and passenger after a crash in Radcliffe.

The man and woman, believed to be in their 20s, were both taken to hospital.

Their injuries are not known.

The car- a Vauxhall Corsa- is understood to have been driving down Bury Road when it crashed into a post box and then ended up in the garden of a house nearby, at around 2.40am.

Watch manager Steven Urmston said: "We were at the scene for well over an hour.

"We had to remove the roof of the car to make the vehicle safe."

Police and ambulance were also called to the scene.
