A COUPLE who quit their jobs to follow their dream have opened their first arts and crafts shop.

Paint A Pot, in Milltown Street, Radcliffe, is the brainchild of Darren Knight, a self-employed electrician, and Nicola Fletcher, who worked in sales.

The shop, which has a wide selection of ceramics and cardboard items that can be uniquely decorated in numerous ways, opened last week.

Darren, aged 46, from, Radcliffe said: “I took my kids to a similar place a few years ago and loved the social aspect of it all.

“I was hooked straight away and have always wanted to do something like this ever since.”

Nicola, aged 42, also from Radcliffe, said that the couple saw a gap in the market and decided to take their chance.

She said: “We just thought that there was nothing similar nearby and so we went for it. Darren has been wanting to open a crafts business for a while but he dwindles so I had to give him a push.

“It’s just a nice way for people to spend their time so I encourage anyone to come and give it a try.”

For the cardboard designs, special decopatch paper is used with a choice of colours available for painting the pots.

With a range of sized designs on offer, the ceramic items start at £7.95 with the decopatch items starting at £7.50.

Refreshments are also on sale and the couple say they are trying to create a nice, relaxing atmosphere for people to come and create their designs.
