THE mother of a disabled girl and a charity that helps sick and disabled children have praised each other for their support.

Lisa Barnes-Ambrosiuk, from Radcliffe, teamed up with Trewan Sands Children’s Trust to raise money to purchase a special wheeled frame for her daughter.

Alice, aged 6, has a severe form of Cerebral Palsy that affects all four of her limbs, meaning that she is resigned to a wheelchair.

As well as being registered blind she also suffers from epilepsy and dystonia which makes her muscles spasm, causing her terrible discomfort.

Mrs Barnes-Ambrosiuk, aged 39, said: “Alice has a specialist seat called a PPod that has been customised to help with the curvature of her spine but it has always been very difficult to transfer her from the seat and into her wheelchair and vice versa.

“We had always wanted to be able to buy her a seat with wheels to make all of this a lot less stressful.

To help with this, Lisa decided to host a fundraising event to try and raise as much money as possible to buy a new seat.

But when Trewan Sands, – which provides support for disabled and terminally ill children – heard about the event, they offered to provide the equipment themselves.

To repay the charity for their help, Mrs Barnes Ambrosiuk donated the £426.50 raised at the event.

The fun day was held at the Queen’s Hotel in Bradley Fold where there was a face painter, bouncy castle, disco, BBQ and lots of prizes for the children to win.

Louise Dawson, a trustee for Trewan Sands, said: “Lisa is an amazing mother who does everything she can to support Trewan Sands.

“Her little girl Alice needed wheels and a new cover for her PPod so we stepped in to provide the equipment.

“Lisa and her friends then decided to run their fundraising day for us and we really appreciate them doing that.”

Mrs Barnes-Ambrosiuk added: “We have been to a few Trewan Sands events over the last year and we cannot thank them enough for their continued help and support and their amazing gesture in funding Alice’s equipment.”
