A GROUP of Brownies have done their bit after raising almost £300 for charity.

The 15th Radcliffe Brownies, who meet every Thursday evening at St Philips Community Centre, held a mini-race night for Cancer Research UK.

All-in-all 22 Brownies, aged between seven and ten years old, took part in the fundraiser.

Emma Johnson, Brown Owl at Radcliffe Brownies, said: “We had a mini race night for Race for Life, in aid of Cancer Research UK and raised £293.50.

“We did running, jumping, hopping and lots of other mini races.

“I would also like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone that sponsored our brownies.”

One of the brownies who took part in the fundraiser, Mia Clarke, aged seven, said: “It was really fun and we all enjoyed doing our bit for charity.

Emma Johnson added: “Cancer charities are very close to my heart. I lost my mother to ovarian cancer in 2007 and have since had two daughters who she never got to meet. My hope is the money we have raised will go towards finding a cure.

“It may just be that someone, someday, may benefit from the money and they do get to see their grandchildren."
