PICTURES have been released showing the injuries suffered by a disabled elderly man and his neighbour in a brutal armed robbery.

As reported, shortly before 8.40pm on Saturday, August 5 police were called to reports of an aggravated burglary on Gatefield Close, in Radcliffe.

Three offenders armed with baseball bats and wearing balaclavas forced door open and entered the 75-year-old's home.

The elderly man was badly beaten and taken to hospital with serious injuries, including broken ribs, a broken ankle and a head injury.

A neighbour who was visiting the elderly man at the time of the robbery was also injured and required hospital treatment for a broken collar bone.

Police have now released images of the injuries sustained by the two men in the attack as they continue their appeal for information.

Detective Inspector Jonathan Kelly of GMP’s Bury Borough, said: “We have released these images to show the extent of the damage that was done to the victims of this brutal attack.

“Last week we released images of a man we wish to speak to in connection with the offence and we are still urging anyone that recognises the man or the car to get in touch with us.
