A RADCLIFFE chef showed off his talents in front of celebrity cook Aldo Zilli, in a bid to be crowned the best in England.

For a second year running, Casalingo restaurant in Ainsworth has been nominated at the annual English Italian Awards.

The restaurant has been nominated for Best Pasta and Best Team in the 2017 awards.

Last week, founders Antonello and Joanne Riu attended a special cook off at the Cheshire Cookery School, where Antonello, made Paccheri con Tonno In Salsa Verde from his native Sardinia. As well as celebrity chef Aldo Zilli, big brands Sacla and Surgital Pasta were there to enjoy the dish.

Joanne and Antonello Riu say they are excited and privileged to be attending the third English Italian Awards Ceremony at the Principal Hotel, in Manchester on October 15.

Joanne said: "We are very, very proud to have been shortlisted again.

"It was a shock that we got through to two categories. We are really happy to get two nominations because even one would've been great.

"We want to thank our loyal customers for their votes and we hope to bring the winning prize back to Ainsworth village."
