RADCLIFFE entrepreneur Charles Burns has made it through to another week of The Apprentice.

During episode five, 24-year-old Charles and his fellow contestants played their part in helping Lord Sugar to celebrate his 70th birthday.

To mark the occasion, the teams were sent on a shopping spree across London, to buy nine specific items at the best possible price.

Charles and Bolton contestant Michaela Wain both found themselves on the losing team in this week's episode, which aired on BBC One last night.

But neither were pulled into the boardroom, leaving hope that they could still secure the £250,000 investment from Lord Sugar.

Charles said: "I put myself forward for project manager but wasn't given the go ahead by everyone because of my lack of London knowledge, so Sajan took the lead.

"We went off to find Rugelach - it's a Jewish delicacy like a pain au chocolat.

"I'm Jewish and had never heard of it. It could have been a motorbike for all I knew."

The team wasted valuable time searching for the Jewish pastry in a Turkish supermarket.

Next they headed to London's most famous suiting street, Savile Row, for a scarlet doeskin - the material used for the scarlet robes worn by lords in the Houses of Parliament.

While Team Vitality racked their brains for where to find an Amstrad computer and item made in 1947, Team Graphene, led by 23-year-old Joanna Jarje, managed to pick up all the things on Lord Sugar’s shopping list.

Charles said: "We made the mistake of thinking lateness would be punished more severely than not having all the items."

Sajan brought Ross and sub-team leader Harrison Jones, aged 27, back into the boardroom.

But it was 29-year-old Ross Fretten who was given the boot after teammates widely felt he had taken a backseat on the task.
