A RADCLIFFE takeaway hailed for its "perfectly cooked kebabs" is in the running to scoop a national award.

Grilled Hotspot has received huge support from regulars who secured it a place as one of the region's five finalists in the 2017 British Takeaway Awards (BTAs).

Owners of the shop in Outwood Road will attend a star-studded ceremony at The Savoy in London, where they could be crowned the nation's top takeaway.

Grilled Hotspot - which also made it into the 2016 finals - is one of five takeaways in the North West to receive the most public votes in one month.

Reviews of the takeout's food and service said the Döner kebab is "seriously good" and the meat is "cooked to perfection."

Several critics rate the kebabs very highly, with one saying they are the "best kebabs you will find anywhere."

Others describe the business as offering an "awesome and friendly service" and praise its cleanliness.

Grilled Hotspot has a five-star food hygiene rating and a five-and-a-half star rating on Just Eat with more than 6,500 reviews.

They will be joined by four other North West finalists, including Brunch in Prescot and Hamlets Kitchen in Merseyside.

Hollyoaks star Kieron Richardson’s popular Strip Health Cafe in Walkden is also in the mix, along with Theo Peppe in Rochdale.

The BTAs, run in association with Just Eat, celebrate the diverse range of cuisines and reward chefs and delivery drivers for their contribution to their communities and the British economy.

UK managing director of Just Eat and 2017 judge Graham Corfield said: "There's no doubt these finalists have the loyal support of their customers, who got them into the top five takeaways in the North West by public vote.

"If they're anything like last year, these restaurants will no doubt offer great food, excellent customer service and play a vital role at the heart of their community.

"It's going to be a tough choice picking the winner."

Finalists will be marked on a mystery shopping experience as well as a submission on why they deserve to win.

Celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott and former Dragon's Den star Sarah Willingham will sit on the judging panel at the awards ceremony on November 27.

The Best Takeaway in Britain will receive £5,000 and a free sign-up to Just Eat, while the 13 regional winners will receive £1,000.
