A NURSING home has been hailed for its outstanding leadership after a visit from the health watchdog.

Rose Court Nursing and Residential Home, in Radcliffe, maintained the good overall rating it received two years ago.

But in the latest visit from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the home in Water Street had additionally received an outstanding in the well-led category.

Rose Court is run by HC-One Ltd and provides care and accommodation for up to 109 people.

Following a three-day inspection in June and July this year, the CQC has praised the staff and manager, care provision and choices given to residents.

They said in their latest report: "We saw care workers assisting people with mobility problems. They were kind and patient and assisted people safely.

"People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible.

"People who lived at the home told us they were happy with their care being provided and liked the staff who looked after them."

Other findings included that staff had been recruited safely and received safeguarding training.

The building was found to be well maintained and medication procedures at the home were safe.

CQC inspectors also praised the variety and choice given to patients, in relation to food provision and activities available to them.

They said in relation to leadership at the home: "There was a strong commitment to continually strive to improve the service.

"The registered manager was proactively involved in looking at new initiatives, such as the Teaching Care Home Project and a new system to help the management of liquid medicines."
