A WOMAN had to be taken to hospital after an Audi and a Vauxhall crashed at rush hour causing lengthy tailbacks.
The main route between Bolton and Bury was blocked after the two cars crashed at the junction of Radcliffe Moor Road and Bury Road (A58).
The emergency services were called to the scene at around 5pm this evening. The driver of the Vauxhall Corsa was able to get himself out of the vehicle after he had been seen by paramedics.
The driver of the Audi TT complained of neck pain and had to be cut from the car using specialist equipment.
She was later taken to hospital as a precaution.
Watch manager Paul Gibbons, said the road closure meant long tailbacks towards both Bury and Bolton.
One motorist said it had taken her more than an hour to get from the centre of town to Radcliffe Moor Road.
The fire service were at the scene for around an hour.
