A NEW housing development offering affordable homes has opened.

Plumlife Homes, which prides itself on delivering affordable housing, has launched The Larks in Radcliffe.

A total of 14 two- and three-bedroom homes are available with Help to Buy schemes.

This government-backed initiatives aim to give people the chance to get onto the property ladder by lowering the deposit required by lenders and keeping monthly repayments down.

Lisa Westerman, group head of sales at Plumlife, said: “With recent research showing that it can take up to eight years for the average first time buyer to save a deposit, homes at The Larks are ideal for first-time buyers and families who are looking to get onto the property ladder.

“Shared ownership offers low deposits at five per cent of the share purchased and has many benefits – it puts home ownership within reach and can benefit a variety of people from first time buyers to single people, retired people and families.”

Houses at The Larks site have been built with eco-features.

They are available through the government-funded Shared Ownership scheme.

This enables the buyer to purchase a share of the new house, usually between 35 and 75 per cent, and pay a small rent on the remaining part until they can take further shares to own the house outright.

The criteria includes total household income at £80,000 a year or less and a link to the area.

Ms Westerman added: “If you think Shared Ownership might be right for you, come and talk to us to see how we can help.”

The two-bedroom Sherwood homes start at £50,033, while the three-bedroom Leighfield homes are available from £54,408 and the Dalby, for £54,233, all for a 35 per cent share.
