CHILDREN played their part in a large fundraising drive ahead of a hospice's opening date by decorating a range of cupcake treats.

Several children from across Manchester made a visit to Hey Little Cupcake shop and café in Spinningfields to design their very own cake toppings.

Throughout June, the shop will be selling cupcakes featuring the recreated purple flower design, and donating £1 from every sale to Forget Me Not Children's Hospice.

The charity is gearing up to open its newest site, Grace's Place, in Radcliffe this October.

Sarah Wilson-Gibbons, director at Hey Little Cupcake, said: "When we heard about the brilliant work Forget Me Not does we wanted to help raise money for the new children’s hospice.

"Inviting young families from across Manchester to come and design the cupcake that we’ll sell during June for the charity was a great way to involve local children in this fundraising campaign, especially on Children’s Day. We hope more families can come to see us in our Spinningfields shop over the coming weeks to show their support for Forget Me Not.”

The visits took place on Friday, June 1, to coincide with the date when many countries worldwide celebrate Children's Day.
