MORE than 200 people of all ages turned out for Radcliffe’s own version of the Reading festival.
Ten bands took to the stage of Radcliffe Civic Suite on Saturday, performing a range of rock, metal, funk, and blues.
The headlining act were Heaven’s Basement, who recently supported Bon Jovi at the City of Manchester Stadium.
Among the other bands performing at the School’s Out For Summer Festival were Code Zero, Breakdown, Chaos Theory, and Babylon Fire.
Free gifts were given out during the seven-and-a-half hour extravaganza by Rock Radio DJ Paul Anthony, who also presented parts of the show.
The event was organised to allow people to enjoy a festival atmosphere without travelling to one of the large summer festivals, such as Glastonbury or Download.
It was also an opportunity to showcase local music, with the bands all based in the Manchester area.
Organiser Lynne Hampson said: “There were people there who had never been to a festival or even seen a live band before, including a lot of young children. It was really good to show them what Manchester has to offer.
“It was a great day and everyone enjoyed themselves. The festival was a huge success.”
