A YOUNG farmer from Ramsbottom who has ambitions of becoming a barrister will be the face of a national convention this weekend.
Sarah Lees, who lives at Park Farm in Manchester Road, juggles her work at the dairy and beef farm with studying for a degree in law at the University of Manchester.
She was picked out from entrants to the National Federation of Young Farmers competition to find the face of the annual convention, which will take place in Blackpool tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday.
Sarah, who is aged 20 and is affiliated to Turton Young Farmers Club, is taking time out of her hectic exam schedule to be at the event.
She won the hearts of the judges by revealing that her parents, who are part of the Lees family which run the farm, first met at the convention in 1989, and that this would be her first time at the event.
Sarah said: “The exam on Monday afternoon is open book so I have written myself some very detailed page notes to compensate for the fact I may be a bit tired on Monday.”
The convention sees young farmers from clubs around the country meet up in the Winter Gardens, with entertainment including sets from Radio 1 DJs Edith Bowman and Scott Mills, live music and awards being presented.
