A car was destroyed in a fire after bursting into flames while being driven on the motorway near Ramsbottom.
The incident happened when the owner was travelling on the M66 and spotted smoke starting to filter from the engine of his MG ZT.
When the vehicle was pulled over onto the hard shoulder, the driver and his passenger quickly got out as flames spread to the rest of the car.
Firefighters were called to the scene at about 2pm on Sunday to deal with the blazing car.
The two male occupants, from Oldham, escaped unharmed.
