A RESERVE championship and top price coup have been achieved by a Holcombe farming family.

Brother and sister Sam and Louise Wood made it a double celebration at the Craven Dairy Auction show and sale at Skipton Auction Mart.

Trading as KT Wood & Son at Broadwood Edge Farm, they saw their first prize newly calven heifer progress to become overall reserve champion.

The three weeks-calved heifer proved the day’s star when topping the trade by selling for £1,820.

The Woods family, who brought three newly-calven heifers on their first ever visit to Skipton, were also rewarded with the third prize in class with a Picston Shottle which sold for £1,700.

The Woods are third generation dairy farmers and while all three Skipton entries were commercial dairy cattle, they also run the Alderwood pedigree Holstein Friesian herd, established in the 1950s.

They are currently milking 110 cattle and also run Wood Family Dairy, bottling their own milk and delivering it to customers across Bury and Rossendale.
