A SCOUT group based in Tottington has been given a cash boost by a construction company working on a Bury project.

Construction Partnership UK (CPUK) handed over a cheque for £200 to 12th Bury Scouts Group.

CPUK is currently working on a £3.5million construction scheme at Walshaw Hall Care Home.

Scout group leader Tim Jackson said: “We have a dedicated team of volunteers serving the local community, running beavers, cubs and scouts, covering age ranges from six to 14.

“We provide the opportunity to do lots of fun activities that children, who are not in scouting, may not get to do.

“Everyone is extremely grateful to CPUK for their generous donation and for supporting us in the local community.

“The funds will certainly help with our ongoing long term projects, such as the National Scout Cars event, which we’ll be attending for a third year.”

The company’s customer care manager Gary Hollingsworth is a Scout leader himself and presented the cash on CPUK’s behalf.

Gary said: “It was a privilege to present the donation on behalf of CPUK.

“The leaders and the young members were all really pleased that we were giving them such support.

“Our donation will make a big difference to all the young people in the group as they endeavour to serve the community of Tottington.”

The Bury Scout group is made up of three sections, totalling more than 60 children.

CPUK is working for Capstone Care on the construction project at Walshaw Hall Care Home.

The Skelmersdale-based company is building a three storey, 56-bed facility in the grounds of the existing home.
