PARENTS were given a taste of nursery life at a Ramsbottom school.

Peel Brow Primary held a parent lunch for the families and friends of children at the nursery in Fir Street.

Meals provider, Mellors, served its usual menu to give the diners a taste of everyday life at Peel Brow.

On offer was meat and potato pie, cheese and onion pie, wraps, and jacket potatoes alongside a salad bar, followed by chocolate chip cookies and sponge with custard.

Headteacher Mr Danny Mellor said: “It is so good to see the parents and children eating together. They all really loved the food, and it's no different than normal. Our school meals are absolutely fantastic.

“We hold the parent lunches for each class during the year.

“The reason is to give parents the chance to sample the school meals and see the quality of the food.

“We use Mellors school catering service and they provide a great service and high standard of school meal."

School chef Rachel Johnson said: “All the plates were empty by the end. Lots of parents have been to me to say how lovely the food was.”

Parent Maria McCrae said: “It reminded me of the time when I was at school, only the meals are tastier now. Absolutely delicious.”
