A PRIMARY school pupil wrote her own success story after being named a runner-up in a national writing competition.
Elizabeth Ainsworth, aged 10, from Holcombe Brook Primary, received the accolade in the face of tough competition from 15,000 children nationwide for her story called ‘The Train Station’.
The National Young Writers’ Award is organised by tuition provider Explore Learning, which has a centre in The Rock, Bury, and is now in its seventh year.
Judged by best-selling author of The World of Norm series, Jonathan Meres, the task was to write a 500-word story on the theme of ‘strange events and peculiar happenings’.
The 2015 winner was 12-year old Alexander Boxall, from Eastbourne, with his spine-tingling tale titled 'That’s a Wrap'.
Carey Ann Dodah, head of curriculum at Explore Learning said: “The awards attracted more entries than ever before so Elizabeth should be very proud of her success."
