A 10-YEAR-OLD baker is hoping to raise plenty of dough after launching her own business.

Year six pupil Isabelle Holmes, who attends Emmanuel Holcombe Primary School in Ramsbottom, started baking two years ago as a way of relaxing.

The budding entrepreneur has already been commissioned for her bakes and built up a strong portfolio of tasty creations.

Mum Lysha of Heapworth Avenue, said: “Issy started to bake in Year 4. It seems to be her way of relaxing after school and distracting herself.

“Sometimes I come downstairs in the evening after school and she will be whipping up something.

“Because she’s getting older and more sophisticated in her baking ability, all I do is turn the oven on and wash up.

“She’s got a natural creative flare which I think she gets from her dad, who runs Ramsbottom Craft Brewery.

“Everyone is really proud of her. She really has high ambitions.

“People ask if she has thought of entering the junior version of Great British Bake Off, but she bats those suggestions off and tells people she’s focussing on becoming brilliant, so that when she turns 16, she can apply for the adult show.”

A Facebook page set up by Mrs Holmes to broadcast Issy’s work in the kitchen, has almost reached 200 likes.

Mrs Holmes added: “I run the page but Issy decides what pictures go on it and sometimes she’ll go on to comment on things.

“Obviously all the pictures on the page are great but you can’t taste the cakes through a screen.

“They’re actually amazing; she has serious skill and only uses natural ingredients and flavourings.

“I’m not pushing her to do this but only encouraging her. You can’t force creativity and passion it has to come naturally.”

Mrs Holmes, who runs her own recruitment company Qui Recruitment, has been working on a surprise for her 11th birthday by creating a website and business cards.

Issy’s website issybakes.co.uk was due to be launched today (October 15).
