MUSIC lovers are invited to help raise money for the Ramsbottom War Memorial Project.

A rock concert featuring Idol Frets will take place on December 5 at Ramsbottom Cricket Club, in Acre Bottom.

Project leaders are working to replace the existing memorial in the gardens of St Paul’s Church with one large enough to take 500 names of the fallen who were from the old Urban District of Ramsbottom.

Team member Martin Wiggam said: “It should be a really good night as this group is very popular.

“We have many other events planned including a joint concert with Rossendale Male Voice Choir and the Nostalgia Swing band, mixed doubles darts knockout with Rams Darts League, race nights, a static cyclothon and a Holcombe tower abseil.

“The project team is looking forward to a very busy future and would welcome people with time and energy to join us and help raise much needed funds.”

A raffle with cash and other donated prizes will be held on the evening.

Concert tickets are £5 and raffle tickets, costing £1, will be available at several local venues, including Bevs Barbers, Entwistles Deli, St Paul’s Church (Saturday only), Bridge Street News, Ramsbottom Cricket Club and Ramsbottom Royal British Legion Club.
