FIREFIGHTERS have warned homeowners to keep their garages tidy after a large blaze in Tottington this morning.
Crews from Bury and Ramsbottom attended the scene in Sunny Bower Street at around 6am, after a detached garage became engulfed in flames.
It is believed the fire was caused by a fault in a fridge or freezer.
Watch manager Gary Madock said: "There was a lot of flammable material in the garage, and the occupiers said that it took just a couple of minutes for what was just a small fire at first to cover the whole garage in flames.
"It is good advice for anyone to keep your garage tidy, especially if it is close to the house, otherwise you are at risk of something like this happening."
