A RAMSBOTTOM couple are hoping to raise £3,000 to buy their son a specialised pram.

Rochelle and Timothy Followes, of Bowker Street, are holding a fun day to help raise funds to support 16-month-old Zachariah.

Doctors say that Zachariah has global development delay, however the extent has not yet been fully diagnosed.

The condition means that Zachariah, who is severely visually impaired, needs extra support reaching development milestones, and it can take a lot longer to reach them.

His parents are now hoping to raise £3,000 to buy specialist equipment to help him progress.

Rochelle, who is required to provide round-the-clock care, said: “Everyday life is very different for Zachariah. With his condition he can’t do as much as other children.

“We want to make sure we can buy the necessary equipment for him and a specialised buggy which he really needs.

“Any support we receive or the slightest donation will make the biggest difference to being able to provide Zachariah with everything he needs and that’s what we’re aiming to do.”

The family are hoping to raise enough money to also buy therapy benches, physiotherapy wedges and crash mats for physiotherapy.

The fun day will take place from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday November 28 at Ramsbottom Pentecostal Church, in Carr Street, where there will be coffee and cakes, a bring and buy sale, face painting and a raffle draw.

People are also being asked to bring items for the ‘bring and buy’ sale to boost funds.
