ROAD restrictions have been put in place in Ramsbottom after flooding in the area.
Temporary signals are in place on Bolton Road West, operating from Halo Hair Studio down to Moray Close near the Brook pub, meaning traffic can still travel in both directions but only one way at a time under traffic signal control.
Flooding problems have been compounded by emergency gas and electric repair works also being carried on Bolton Road West.
A Bury Council spokesman said: "Unfortunately, there are now several emergency works under way on Bolton Road West at the same time that have the potential to cause serious congestion.
"This includes flooding on the road, emergency gas repair works by Transco near Ada Street, emergency electricity repair works by Electricity North West at the main Bridge Street junction and one-way traffic (in a downwards direction) along Kay Brow due to works on a building development.
"Motorists are advised to find an alternative route if possible to avoid delay. The council apologises for any inconvenience caused by these unforeseen events."
Scobell Street, in Tottington, has also been partly closed due to severe flooding, with police reported that long delays are expected.
