FOUR youngsters from the 11th Ramsbottom (Holcombe) Guides are celebrating after receiving the highest accolade for Guides – the Baden-Powell Challenge Award.
Lauren Moppett. aged 14, Amber Hewitt, Rebecca White, both 15, and Annabelle Worth, 16, received their awards from Jenny Burton, Bury North division president, at a recent presentation evening at Emmanuel Holcombe CE Primary School, where the group hold their weekly meetings.
The teenagers completed a range of exciting activities over a twelve month period to achieve the award, including organising and running a mini Olympics, building a bivouac, and volunteering at a local Rainbow unit each week.
Rebecca said: “I particularly enjoyed the residential camp after I had completed all the award clauses, we had lots of fun and made new friends.”
Guide leader Janet Howarth added: “This marks the end of a lot of effort and dedication, and is something they can look back on with pride for years to come.”
