AN artist in Ramsbottom put his talent to good use, raising more than £1,000 for the Boxing Day flood victims.

Adam Rowlinson, aged 46, who lives with his partner Debbie Edwards aged 43, in Tanners Street, Ramsbottom, auctioned off a number of bespoke illustrations of the town.

The father-of-two in total raised £1,050 for the flood relief fund after unexpectedly selling three prints.

Adam said: “The flooding here was absolutely awful, and we watched so many of our friends get involved volunteering and helping out where they could.

“With two young girls I didn’t have time to really get stuck in in my wellies so I had a think of what else I could do to support those affected.

“I decided to sell initially just one bespoke panoramic view of Ramsbottom, to the highest bidder.

“I couldn’t believe it when it sold for £400 and then I had another person message me directly saying they would match the bid for another version so I couldn’t turn it down.

“The tapas restaurant Levanter, in Ramsbottom, had bid £250 but they told me they wanted to donate the money anyway. As a thanks I gave them a smaller print.

“I was pleasantly surprised when I had raised £1,050 and so glad that the money went straight to help people struggling with the aftermath of the floods.”

Adam’s daughters, Frances, aged 11, and Lily, aged eight, supported their dad’s efforts to raise the cash.

He added: “The girls realise what I’ve done and seem proud, they sometimes sit down and will draw with me which is really great.

“They’ll be drawing with their felt tips and I’ll be creating and drawing new pieces on my Mac.

“It’s nice to know what I’ve done will have made a difference to someone in Rammy.”
