A HOLCOMBE nursery has been celebrating after it was graded "good" by Ofsted.

Holcombe Brook School Nursery was inspected at the start of May and received the good news about their grading last week.

Manager Janet Skinner said: "I'm really pleased that we have got a good rating.

"It's been four years since we were last inspected and a lot has changed since then so when it came through we were really happy.

"My staff are so pleased about it and the parents have been congratulating us too which is great."

The nursery was previously rated "good" in 2012 at its last judgement.

They have managed to maintain this status after addressing the recommendations raised at the last inspection.

Inspector Helen Royston stated in her report: "Staff are excellent role models for the children. They are enthusiastic, kind and communicate clearly with each other."

The nursery has 26 places for children aged between two and four and the report praised the procedures in place for their safeguarding and the quality of teaching and learning.

The report also stated that all children were making good progress and were "motivated and excited to learn."

The Longsight Road nursery is not yet classed as "outstanding", the highest possible rating, because they need to put systems in place to monitor staff practice and they need to effectively track the progress of different groups of children.

Ofsted regularly inspect and regulate services that care for children and young people, and services providing education and skills for learners of all ages in order to help them achieve excellence in education.

During the visit the inspector observed the quality of teaching during indoor and outdoor activities and how that impacted on children's learning.

There was also a joint observation with the manager and a meeting was held to look at records and supervision forms.

The inspector also spoke to a selection of parents and took account of their views.

Mrs Skinner added: "The staff work really hard so it’s great that we have got the good rating."
