A TUMBLE drier fire has led to a warning from the fire service.

Officers from Bury were called to Moorside Road in Tottington on Tuesday to reports of a fire after the female occupant of the property had seen flames coming from the back of the machine.

When they arrived the fire was out but the officers took the opportunity to fit smoke alarms in the property.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "It looks as if the fire was caused from a build up of fluff in the back of the machine.

"This is a reminder for people to check their filters and not to leave their machines on when they go to sleep."

There was no damage to the house just damage to the machine.

The fire service offer safe and well checks to anyone who wants to them, they will come and install smoke alarms and give advice.
