ORGANISERS of the fourth Ramsbottom Jigsaw Festival are putting the final pieces in place for the event.

The festival will be held in St Paul’s Church, in Bridge Street in the town centre, from Wednesday September 6 to Saturday September 9.

After the success of previous festivals, this year’s event is being sponsored by puzzle makers Gibsons.

The festival is again a joint venture between two of the churches in the Ramsbottom and Edenfield Team Ministry — Edenfield Parish Church and St Paul’s.

There will be more than 1,000 completed jigsaw puzzles of different sizes, themes, styles and subjects on display and for sale.

The Ramsbottom Jigsaw Festival 2017 will be officially opened by the Mayor of Bury, Cllr Dorothy Gunther, and the Mayor of Rossendale, Cllr Colin Crawforth, at 7pm on Tuesday September 5 as part of a preview evening to which contributors have been invited.

The Archdeacon of Bolton, the Venerable David Bailey, will also be in attendance.

One of Edenfield’s churchwardens, David Foster, said: “The Jigsaw Festival has become a real community project.

“Over the past year many people all over the Ramsbottom, Edenfield and Bury areas, and in some cases beyond, have spent several hours putting jigsaw puzzles together for this event, and we would like to thank them for their efforts.

“A warm welcome is extended to visit St Paul’s Church to see the fruits of their labours.”

The festival will be open from 10am to 5pm each day. On the Thursday, September 7, it will also be open from 6.30pm to 9pm.

Refreshments will be available throughout the festival.

Admission to the event is £2 and the entrance programme will entitle the holder to readmission free of charge during the four days. Accompanied children will be admitted free of charge. Organisers are still looking for volunteers to help staff.
