A POPULAR Ramsbottom pub is celebrating after taking home two awards at last night’s Great British Pub Awards in London.
The Eagle & Child, in Whalley Road, beat stiff off competition from across the UK to be named ‘Partnership Pub of the Year’, as well as picking up the overall ‘John Smith’s Great British Pub of the Year’.
The pub has received praise in recent years for its socially conscious approach.
Owned by Blackburn-based brewery Daniel Thwaites, the Eagle & Child identifies as a community-oriented social enterprise, which focuses on training and employing disadvantaged young people.
They went through an extension refurbishment earlier this year, which involved building five new guest bedrooms and an orangery.
The Eagle & Child are no stranger to awards having been named Best Food Pub in the Manchester Food and Drinks Awards held in October 2016.
