THE family of a driver who died after his car crashed into a wall in Holcombe Brook have paid tribute to him.
Richard Mattinson, from Bury,was seriously injured in a crash in Bolton Road West on Wednesday morning and pronounced dead at the scene.
In a tribute to the 56-year-old, his family said: “He was a much loved father, son, grandad and uncle who had a great sense of humour, and loved his family and friends.
“Richard was a man with a big heart who will be sadly missed by many.”
Shortly before 6.15am on Wednesday police were called to reports of a collision on Bolton Road West near the junction with Longsight Road.
A Vauxhall Astra Club had been travelling southwest on Bolton Road West towards Holcombe Brook. But as it reached the junction with Longsight Road, it struck a stone wall.
The road was closed for several hours whilst police carried out an investigation.
Officers are appealing for anyone who saw the car before the crash, or who has dash-cam footage from around the time of the collision, to contact them on 101 quoting incident number 271.
